Florals for Spring?

Yes, florals for spring. Not groundbreaking. In fact, I feel pretty dissatisfied as I’m taking stock of the photos I took and edited for this newsletter.
Flowers are an easy subject in theory which I took as an opportunity to have a little fun, try some new things, and take less obvious flower shots. I succeeded in all three of those goals but the photos feel…amateruish? Which should be ok, I am an amateur. But it’s hard to share something I don’t feel great about. But the goal of this newsletter was always about consistency and personal growth, not perfection.
So without further overcontextualization, let’s get to the photos.
My first thought was to focus on early and late blooms. Moments that add to the vibrancy of springtime without full on flowers.
I also wanted to try long exposures similar to photos by Linda Lomelino. Mine came out not as artfully, to put it mildly. I’m not too mad about it though, I’ve never tried this tecnique before and got to enjoy flowers blowing in the wind.
Lastly, I tried to find flowers in scenes that don’t necessarilly scream spring.
I know those aren’t all that bad but thank you for scrolling through. I’d welcome any tips or ideas more than consolation or compliments.
As a bonus, here a few traditional flower photos that I feel more confident about.
As always, thanks for reading! See you next month.

Here’s a tip: you don’t need any tips from me! (Maybe my untrained eyes are dumb, but I really like many of these)
I quite like lol 1 - I would like to continue to see long exposure experiments, Sam!
