Willow Studies

There’s something about weeping willows, man.
The way they create sheltered spaces with branches hanging down at so many different heights. How the leaves sway in the breeze and sunlight glimmers through. The variety of greens and yellows in the foliage that seem purpose-built for golden hour viewing.
I’m not a talented enough writer to justify more than a few sentences of description. Some photos will better demonstrate why I love these trees.
The shadows the foliage creates, too.
I tend to add natural frames, borders, and sides (see above middle above), and hanging willow branches make that easy.
Beautiful trees, go spend a few minutes with one like this unwitting portrait victim. If I could recommend some from my life: the great big one near the Open Space in Traverse City (main subject), the many along the Cyrstal River (secondary subject), and the Esplanade Sitting Tree in Boston.
