Sunrise, Sunset

I spent time last year expressing winter joy and fighting winter dread. As it turns out, celebrating the colder months does not exempt me from mourning the departure of the warm ones. I know new good things are on the way—September is one of the best months of the year and “local’s summer”—but man, I am sad summer is ending.
I’m trying to reflect on everything I’ve done the last few months so here are a few shots from a sunrise watch party (organized by the singular Bugsy Sailor, check out his shop in Marquette before it closes) I took in late spring.
I also included a few sunset pics. Beginnings are often very similar to endings.
Is photographing sunrises and sunsets cheating? I know you still have to make a quality image or get creative with how you document it but it feels like cheating.
I’ve been sitting on a few newsletters. Might go crazy and send more than one next month. Stay tuned!
