I wonder if I’d be a better photographer, or at least a more prolific one, if I drove more.

Earlier this month I set out to reacquaint myself with the world after being sick and inside for several days. It was one of those gloriously sunny winter days that feels like Mother Nature is trying to warm you up even though she just placed the heavy blanket of snow.

So I went unnecessarily far for breakfast and detoured for scenic views and thrift shops. I brought my camera and regularly found myself wanting to hit the brakes, pull over, and take a photo.

I’m not sure if the roadside really does offer great visuals or if, in that short glimpse of a scene, I can craft a perfect image in my head without actually taking it.

I did set out specifically to take the photo(s) below. Dark room with a bright wintry scene out the window. I’m not sure I nailed my vision, but it was to try regardless.

Anyways, I’ve continued to enjoy this winter, heavy snowfall, wicked cold and all. Here are some more shots from this season.

I set out to send this once a month so I’m cutting it close on this one. See ya next month!
